This was our first visit. We drive by when heading into Pensacola and never have time to stop. What a little hidden gem. Our server, Josie, was fantastic, attentive and just happy to be helping us.
The food was a pleasant surprise, it was really fantastic in a fried food beach town. Each taco variation we had was better than the next. Carnitas were moist and very flavorful , Barbacoa melted in your mouth and the Al Pastor packed a pineapple punch just like we like. Each amazing bites. The habanero sauce was hot (it is habanero), the verde was very nice, the mild still had a bite too.
Kyle's top shelf margarita was perfect!
Great experience and would definitely recommend and return to.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - Heather M.Gulf Breeze, FL168101Apr 30, 2024
Always consistently great!!! They offer excellent vegan options and the entire waitstaff is amazing. The atmosphere is super family friendly and clean.

This is the place for real authenticity if you love Mexican food. Definition of eat pray love with my family for dinner vibes. The staff is nice the place feels like home and the service is fast especially if you order ahead online.

Too bad Rico Suave x2 had anything to do with our experience. Two long curly black hairs. 1 In The margarita on the rocks and 1 on the fajitas. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. 1 is a mishap, 2!?!?!? Never will happen again. Food was just blah. So no room for errors, let alone 2 hairs.

Not easy to decipher if you take a table or order at the bar first, we sat and waited a long time for any recognition and actually asked the waitress at the next table for the menus she was trying not to drop. She was surprised we weren't already greeted, but after that she became attentive.
My al pastor burrito was surprisingly skimpy on the meat inside but FULL of fatty chunks that I quickly resorted to opening the burrito to eat it with a fork to avoid having to keep putting fat chunks from my mouth into my napkin.
My husband enjoyed his steak fajitas. They looked plain jane, but he was happy. No onions, no peppers, just skinny strips of dried brown steak and you create your own with shredded iceberg and a side of beans and rice.
Maybe we make awesome Mexican food too often at home, so paying slightly high prices for skimpy plates at Taco Rock just isn't going to be my thing. - Sascha K.South Elgin, IL11782Nov 27, 2023

Just an update. I said earlier that this was a second location and since my last review they have changed their name to Tacos Rock and I believe this is one side of the same family. Maybe there is some animosity, maybe a split in the family? I read something about it a long time ago but I don't remember the story. Just wanted to make it known that they are not one and the same with two locations.
Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 21, 2018Previous reviewTaco Rock a staple in Pensacola and now has a location in Gulf Breeze. The new branch is every bit as good as the gold standard on Pensacola Boulevard but is a sit-down, order from your table restaurant. The fair continues to be Tex-Mex, leaning more traditional Mexican.

Found this fun place leaving Pensacola heading back to Navarre. Shelly greeted us at the door and took excellent care of us and totally knocked it out of the park with the salsas hot sauces for my husband!
The food was great and fresh and the horchata hit the spot! The place is super clean. Kind of hidden in the back of a plaza so keep your eyes open!
The queso was good and the burritos are massive!
We will definitely be back for the two for one margarita special and to try more things on the menu..
Everyone was super nice and you can tell this restaurant is well ran by great people!
We are from Texas so Tex Mex is our thang! This hot the spot!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Tim S.Pensacola, FL61Oct 20, 2023
By far the worst Mexican restaurant we have ever been to. The waiter was a real Jerk.
Did not even bring us our appetizer that we had ordered. Did not even ask us if we wanted more drinks. Did not give him a big tip. Then he chased us down in the parking lot was very verbal with my wife so un professional We will never go backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
