Just moved to the area and came here for the first time. Very pleased. I had the bacon cheese burger which was delish! Hubby had venison sausage which was also very good. The venison came with homemade potato chip that was a nice surprise. They have wonderful outdoor seating and are doing a great job with the social distancing.

The supper specials offer delicious food at great prices. At first I thought they were called the super specials because it's such a great deal. Also try the grilled chicken, fried chicken or the best burger in town. Be sure to ask about the history of this place it's been here forever.

This used to be a family restaurant. Now, it's been reopened by Red Lion Inn and is over priced, gives smaller portions, and has lost that local, West Stockbridge feeling. Sadly, would not recommend.

Food is terrific! Highly recommend the burger. Everything I've had tastes fresh and the desserts are amazing. And don't miss out on Sunday morning homemade donuts!

This place just changed hands, and our dear friends suggested we try it out. They made reservations, tho that was totally unnecessary, since there were only a handful of patrons there, most at the bar. The menu, pretty limited, offered nothing appealing to us seasoned restaurant-goers, so we finally opted for the lobster Mac and cheese.. something I never order out!! It was pretty dreadful and went uneaten for the most part. Even the appetizers didn't sound appetizing. This place has so much potential, but unless they do something about their menu and the quality of food served, their doors may not be open long.

The Taphouse (or Tap House depending upon which sign you believe) at Shaker Mill occupies the location of the former Shaker Mill Tavern. We are sad to report that the new format has bowed to that which is ever so popular in all the touristy areas anywhere near Connecticut and New York State... Everything is a bistro serving arugula and involving coulis. Worse, it wasn't very clean. Our wooden table was badly in need of a new coat of polyurethane. Our hostess was using a citrus based cleaner to wipe tables. Citrus cleaners leave a sticky residue. Used over raw wood they simply raise the embedded moisture and food soil to the surface and create an unsanitary surface that both smells bad and sticks to diners' forearms. Ewww. Fortunately we had alcohol based hand sanitizer in our pockets so we could get past that. On the bright side our waitress, Jane, was top notch and delivered our fifteen dollar cheeseburgers promptly, along with our, admittedly strange, drink requests. The food itself was outstanding. I got my well done burger actually well done. The hand cut, skin on, fries are served in paper cups on miniature bakers sheets with Butcher paper liners. Very down scale for the type of menu but to our liking and certainly convenient for whomever has to clean up. Dessert was a major disappointment. This is where the coulis came in. We ordered the only straightforward and non-pretentious dessert item available... ice cream. It was lousy. It was either a cheap brand or had been allowed to thaw exposed to air refrozen leaving ice crystals. Just bad. So... full marks for Jane. Full marks for the cook. D minus for sanitation and selection. F just for not staying a good, American restaurant and trying to be yet another tourist trap.

Party of four last night at 8pm. Place virtually empty. Shepherds pie special all gone. Ordered Mac and cheese and burgers. Worst food we all had eaten in years. Waitress was really nice and we tipped her well for having to work in such a place. Avoid this supposed restaurant.

The people we interacted with were really kind and is why the review got even one star. The food was not good. I ordered the caramelized onion, bacon, and blue cheese flatbread. It smelled like cat food and after one bite it was clear that it was not going to be palatable. The person I was with ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it made them sick. Like I said, the staff was really nice, I didn't want my flatbread packed up and they comped the meal - definitely a nice gesture that was unexpected. If you want to go for a drink at the bar it would be a great place! Just maybe avoid it for a meal

Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere! Highly recommend if you're in town. I loved the soft pretzel and the tap beers. My husband had an excellent cheeseburger. Will definitely be back
