Okay guys seriously!! There's a few poor reviews on here and I do try to keep an open mind. Well... now you have a Yelp Elite telling you to STAY AWAY!! At least until they have some serious changes!! First off it is WAY overpriced! My husband had the teriyaki steak for $18!! As you can see by the photo, this included a small handful of extremely overcooked bits of beef. I ordered a chicken dish just to be told they were out of chicken. They were also out of the 8oz steak special. I got the firecracker sushi roll which was supposed to have jalapeño. Not sure where that went. Before our meal we got the absolute worst wilted (not intentionally) iceberg and cucumber salad with an awful ginger dressing. It was bitter. Then the miso soup was actually miso broth with green onions and it tasted much more like water then miso. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
The services was subpar as well. She never asked us how we liked our food, never checked on us actually. Then we had to sit and overhear the servers talk about their poor tips. Gee I wonder why?
I have to say the ambiance is pretty perfect actually but it only adds to how disappointing the food is. With such a beautiful building, this location should be a serious hot spot! I will say they appear to be clean.
I usually rate on a scale... okay food 1 star, service 1 star, ambiance 1 star because it set me up for disappointment, cleanliness 4 stars. I think it's safe to say, this location gains one star!
Points for improvement: if you're going to charge $18 for a steak dish... serve a steak to the customer's desired temp. And if you're going to serve miso soup and a salad make sure it's fresh and well executed. Stop using a microwave and make the food fresh!! Research authentic Asian cuisine and just execute it better. Okay I just left the bathroom. Check the picture. I'm done here.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Taylor Z.Austin, TX36567302Jul 19, 2021
Kobe Bay has great location by downtown with a great view of the riverfront. The restaurant has lots of space of seating for indoor and outdoor dining. Sipping on a cold drink and enjoying the view was such a vibe.
The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We ordered the seafood boil, bbq nachos, wings, and bang bang shrimp.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kacey W.Paulding, OH18718Jun 12, 2021
This was our first time and we enjoyed it. The staff was polite and accommodating. The crab/shrimp mac was delicious.
We also got to talk to a gentlemen (I think his name was Dan) that they call Captain, he was kind enough to pay for my husband's meal since he was in uniform.
We'll definitely go back.
The only downside was appetizers were a bit pricey.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cassie V.Bowling Green, OH134Sep 17, 2021
My friend decided to take me here for a birthday dinner and has been here multiple times so she was excited to take me here.
Firstly, we wanted to order drinks and were ready to be ID'd but the waitress said she didn't need to see them because she was under age and they still serve her and other under age people.
Then we were notified that our drinks were taking so long after we ordered our sushi because the inside tables were being served before patio customers.
At this point we have been waiting for over an hour when our sushi comes out THEN our drinks. We both are confused at the sight of only five pieces of sushi comes in the dinner entrees rolls. We then ask to speak to management because $12 for 5 pieces is nuts. You can go to Kroger and get a full roll of 12 for $10. We even brought this point up to management and they seemed to not care one bit.
After getting this even more confusing response the waitress came back over and we asked her if this is normal. She said that her manager is sexist and this happens all the time. She even started that she questions why she still is working there.
Once we got home and looked at the only picture we took for proof and realized the sushi looked like left over pieces from someone else's meal placed on a plate. You can even see that the sauce lines don't match up as if it were freshly made.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole E.Elyria, OH707May 15, 2021
The hostess was super nice and very accommodating to our needs. Because of OUR time restraint we sat at the bar. Our bartender was attentive and fun. Our appetizers were delivered by a very nice young lady. Our food was delicious. We had the bang bang shrimp, pot stickers, and the barbecue (ribs, brisket and pork) the sushi looked awesome we just didn't have the time to wait for it.
I would recommend visiting Kobe Bay!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike J.Beverly Hills, CA0104Aug 27, 2021
Save your time and money and don't come here. Up until today I really enjoyed dining here. They are no longer a Japanese Restaurant. They recently shifted to burgers, fries and chicken tenders just like every Applebee's. Waitress was a little rude and didn't feel like we were welcomed, just looked at like we were crazy when we asked about the non-existent hibachi. Rice tasted like it was microwaved. The only cool thing about this restaurant is it's on the river in Toledo, but so is a handful of others in the same parking lot.
Please save yourself the money and don't be dissatisfied in the staff and menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Veronica K.Toledo, OH9021Jun 27, 2021

My first visit here was very pleasant. Staff was very accommodating. I enjoyed the Shrimp Hibachi, Crab Rangoon, and the Eel Avocado Roll. For dessert, Carrot Cake! All very tasty! I definitely will be back!

This is a great place for the perfect date night. The ambiance is beautiful we sat at a table with a wonderful view of the river and the downtown Toledo skyline. The food was amazing from appetizer to dessert. I recommend the cast iron hibachi chicken, spicy salmon roll, and raspberry cheesecake. The salmon roll was absolutely delicious and the cheesecake was so light and creamy. To top it off our server was awesome. He made sure we had a perfect evening. I can't wait to come back again and I am really looking forward to enjoying dinner and drinks on that beautiful patio on a nice summer night. This restaurant is definitely a local gem.
