PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, I implore you, give this place some business or it will be out of biz in a few months time, sadly. For restaurant's, it's a rough stretch of Division if you're not a standard Taco, Diner, or PR fare. And that is *not* to take anything away from those establishments bc they have their place and they have it in spades in this hood which i've been lucky to be a part of for almost 12 years now.
The owner/chef is simply the best, GREAT professional background/experience and it took some doing to get the license.
When the Owner of Chi Teacher's Lounge came with his noble and excellent idea of creating a place for the numerous area Teacher's, Educators and student's alike, to come and hang out, eat, drink and be merry, and to also give back to the edu system he was met w a less than welcoming response. In time he received the approval needed and was awarded the license.
Either way, the place is dynamite and has a nice variety and cross section of a variety foods of varying ethnic background. Just like Chicago, a total melting pot of diversity.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Kelsey T.Chicago, IL355164213Jan 14, 2018
I was blown away by this adorable restaurant! This quaint restaurant on division represents the 11 surrounding schools nearby, amazing service, and a delicious menu.
I came here on a Friday night and disappointingly the restaurant was very empty. Initially this made me nervous, thinking maybe the other reviews were off and I was going to be let down. I have never been more wrong! We were seated immediately and ordered a bottle of wine that was served with great presentation. We went on to order the crab cakes which were perfectly made, the baked beet salad (I don't even like beets and this salad was incredible with the citrus and goat cheese!), and the roasted chicken (the chicken was great, pasta was perfectly cooked, and the pesto was one of a kind!). Everything was amazing, great portion sizes, and very affordable.
The server was so kind and attentive. He took the time to explain how the restaurant came to be, gave us the low down on the menu, and even brought me a surprise birthday dessert (peach cobbler!) which was amazing. I truly appreciated the welcoming spirit and kind gestures he showed throughout our entire experience here. I will definitely be back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shanti I.Chicago, IL259220344Oct 22, 2017
I am very happy that there is a restaurant/cafe that appreciates educators since they are under-appreciated in our society. It has a very relaxed, unpretentious vibe making it feel like a neighborhood hang-out. Our server was very kind, genuine, and helpful. I would say the cuisine was "New-American" style and quite tasty. They had a decent cocktail and wine list but it was a school night so I wasn't drinking. Their water has a refreshing lemon flavor to it making me like this place even more!
They had a decent amount of vegetarian and pescatarian options. My friend (who is also an educator) and I started out with an order of the truffle parmesan fries. They were drizzled with a garlic aioli and the truffle flavor was delicious. I would have liked if there was freshly grated parmesan rather than the parmesan powder on there, but it was still wonderful and I couldn't stop eating it.
For our entrees we ordered the roasted salmon and the cheese ravioli. The roasted salmon was out of this world! The salmon was made to perfection and served with a delicate balsamic reduction over decadent truffle mashed potatoes. The truffle mashed potatoes were heavenly and I still didn't have enough truffle that night. The roasted vegetables were crispy and went very well with the balsamic reduction.
The cheese ravioli was also great in the basil broth. I think this dish could have have been more flavorful though. It was a delicate, light flavor and the basil was not very strong or potent. It was more of a buttery sauce. The ravioli had a wonderful texture and was stuffed with ricotta. It was served with sweet tomatoes, asparagus, and shaved parmesan.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I plan on coming here for Taco Tuesday!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Christy B.Maryland Heights, MO0235Oct 26, 2017Updated review
Great new spot in Humboldt Park. If you are looking for a relaxed vibe and great service, come to this spot! We stopped in for drinks and appetizers and we're not disappointed. Our waiter, Les, had an amazing tie to match his personality. Patio was awesome and could hear live music next door. Will definitely return!

The Chicago Teachers' Lounge is delicious! I'm so sad that I haven't discovered it sooner....such a great and QUALITY addition to this neighborhood!

Was disappointed in our meals.
Our server was great!
Our meal was not.
We set high expectations for the food since the chef was known to previously work at a one Michelin Star restaurant: the food was sub par to be nice.
I ordered the burger medium well - what I got was well done and made my teeth hurt from eating it.
My friend got the grilled cheese with avocado - the cheese was not melted and she was severely disappointed.
The empanadas were highly anticipated, an assumption uncalled for. They were soggy, not crunchy, and the chimichuri without depth.
The only thing I would come back for is the service, not the food. Our server was wonderful. He was attentive and made wonderful recommendations. Unfortunately the food just did not deliver tonight.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eric M.Chicago, IL1152Jun 27, 2019
The service at this place is poor. We had to keep calling the waiter to pay attention. We understand that this is a bar and eatery but; pay attention. The food was fair but it took over an hour for 3 entrees. Very strange place.
The Peach Cobbler made up somewhat the long, inattentive service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe M.Evanston, IL60123Nov 12, 2017
I just moved to the neighborhood and on the insistence of my girlfriend who also came here a week ago, I stopped in for a late dinner. This spot hits all the perfect notes. Price is right, food is delicious and well presented, drinks are fantastic, and the service is incredibly prompt. When you are in the West loop, skip the noise on Randolph and come to Humboldt Park. You won't regret it.
