One of the many pubs I bookmarked before coming to Windermere..5 minutes walk from the train station this place is small and cozy with one of the finest cider and ale collections I've seen for awhile.
The ceiling is laden with overhanging knick knacks and the open fire adds to that homely feel.
For victuals you can snack on some tasty homemade pork scratchings to sharing platters consisting of meats, cheeses and olives. We opted for one £22 platter with baked camebert that held grapes and bacon within its gooey centre and on the side were lashing of crusty bread. Several meats and lettuce leaves lay encircling the pot of cheesy goodness amongst other delightful cheeses.
The service is friendly and when you go through another door you are represented with a even smaller bar. Heavily recommended this place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Meredith A.Newcastle, United Kingdom27812123Nov 20, 2018
We always make a stop here when we are in Windermere, since my husband loves craft beer. They've recently expanded and now have more indoor seating upstairs, which is great, as it could get quite cramped before! It's dimly lit with fairy lights, and I think there are a few fireplaces (some real, some not) to add to the cozy atmosphere. It's easily the best bar in Windermere, with a good beer selection (a bit too cider-heavy, says husband, but ah well), free nibbles, and if you get a good table you'd just want to linger all night.

The selection is amazing and service is exceptional!! They have over 100 beers available (most are in bottles-5 on tap but change regularly). This place is amazing!!!! They also have nibbles like charcuterie trays, sandwiches, and other snacks. Highly recommend the baked Camembert served 3 different ways. Delicious!!!

I loved the place, but it's worth noting that if you're looking for real ale, this is not the place for you (at least as of Dec 2016). They do serve a lager amongst their six keg taps, but the rest are reserved for a nice array of keg beers, many local or regional, and they have ~80 bottles and cans in the fridge with a range of prices. It's a great atmosphere thanks to the obvious effort they've put into reusing old materials, and the staff are helpful and friendly. We hit this during the winter, but I'll bet it's busy during the warmer days. Definitely pop in for a visit room allowing.

Great atmosphere, perfect mix of blues music, food was average, beer was good, but they were out of my first two choices. Barkeep seemed very harried as he was being pulled in 3 directions at once, and checkout process was complicated. All-in-all I would go back just because it was fun to hang out & chill there.

Good food, nice music and vibe, but unbelievably slow service. Took an hour to get a sandwich! Hopefully they will get some more staff to help in the kitchen soon
