The Handyman Can

Jaime came and solved a trickly more open ended problem for me of hanging a athletic ring hanger in a ceiling where joists positioning made them impossible to find using a standard stud finder, and thoughtfully moved to a good outcome. I would work with him again

POOR COMMUNICATION, OVERPROMISE, AND UNDERDELIVER.

I requested service based on a respected review on yelp. He confirmed with me the time to meet at 10am. Because I heard nothing from him, I called him 30min prior and he apologized profusely that there was a miscommunication and he couldn't come at the time. So we rescheduled to 1pm. Curiously, he never asked for my address. So I called again around 12pm to give him the address. The guy that showed up was someone that he works with.

Long story short, he spent 3hrs and completely got no where. I asked specifically to fix a shower door that is loose and kitchen drawers that need new slide drawers. For the shower door, he said he just needs to get the part and he could get it. And he asked me where's a hardware store (aren't you the handyman?). I told him I only know Lowe's. He goes there for 2hrs and said he couldn't find it. So I ended up ordering it on Amazon. To his credit, he replaced a missing screw on the shower door handle.

For the kitchen drawers, he took my drawer sliders and says "I know a place that sells them". But it was getting late and he says he'll come by another day. The next day I received a text from him saying he couldn't find the part so he's going to mail me back the drawer sliders. He never did. I ended up finding the part myself and doing it myself (and I'm not that handy!)

Having not done anything and completely wasting my time and his time, and not returning my kitchen drawer slider, the original owner, who I never met, still wanted $200 for the "job". I voiced my dismay and he got defensive saying "we don't sell parts" and implying that I was suppose to have the parts ready. He may have a point, but why did he offer to get the parts tor me. And I said I would pay for his time getting those parts. To this day, I am still frustrated and appalled by the entire experience.

Jamie is very professional, detailed, knowledgable and responsive. My two frameless shower doors in our San Francisco condo had become misaligned and by looking at the pictures he quoted the cost and came and fixed it. I liked it so much that I told him to come back and assemble all the Ikea furniture for two bedrooms and he was awesome. Will definitely call Jamie anytime I need a Handyman. Thanks Jamie.

Jaime is a consummate professional who not only brings his years of experience and does a wonderful job, but has great manners, as well.

The reviews below that give him poor ratings complain of cancellations and lack of communication. I take that as part of the nature of the business because Jaime and I were coordinating for a little bit before settling on a time that worked for both of us. He does his best to try and estimate how long a job will take but as everyone knows, it's impossible to know for sure.

He was incredibly polite and went above and beyond to ensure that I was happy with the job. I will not hesitate to work with Jaime again. Thank you for your hard work ethic and professionalism!

I was looking for quick help with stacking a dryer on top of my new washer and filling a hole in the bathroom. Jaime was quick to respond and came within a few hours. He did a great job with patching up the hole and installing the stacking kit. I would definitely use his service in the future.

Our shower was leaking and needed a new plastic strip to seal the base, so we called Jaime for help. The shower door is old so the plastic wasn't the right size but the Handyman Can and he devised a plan to fix the problem. It is now sealed and there's no more leaking or floor damage--brilliant!

Unprofessional, poor work ethic.

I called him to fix a coupe of windows and take a look at a noisy siding door (leaks some outside noise in). First it was difficult to schedule: super long response time, and he ended up rescheduling at the last minute and being late eventually.
He did fix the windows, and we moved to the siding door. He did some work on the sliding door and left. But I later realized, that he actually made things worse (the door started leaking more noise than before). I tried to contact him a coupe times to come over again and finish the work. I even offered him to pay extra for it (which I frankly I didn't have to do), but he never responded. So he broke my sliding door and disappeared. I would not recommend this person to anyone.

Is there place to add a sixth star anywhere?

We've had a shower leakage problem ever since buying our condo 3 years ago and no one I showed it to or paid to fix it was able to solve the problem.

Jaime astutely diagnosed the issue, proposed a viable solution and executed seamlessly. All for a very reasonable price.

Don't think twice about calling Jaime the Handyman.
If he can't do it, no one can.

Please beware that Jamie is not properly bonded at present. Therefore, he shouldn't be completing any handyman work until he is.

I will happily update my review once I have received word and confirmation that Jamie is indeed properly bonded once again.

To say the least, it is disconcerting that Jamie himself didn't realize that his bond had expired until I ask him to specifically provide evidence of his license and bond prior to having complete complete any work at my condo.

Hopefully, this review will compel to take this situation seriously and rectify this unprofessional situation as soon as possible.
