My favorite restaurant in Big Sky! The Rocks puts a memorable local twist on worldly cuisines.
The Rocks is the epitome of a local gem. It's unique in that all of the ingredients ingredients in their food and drinks are sourced locally, even the wide selection of spirits. Being a cocktail drinker, I always appreciate a good drink made with locally distilled liquor. Beyond that, the staff here is also overly welcoming and very friendly although they always seem to be spread a bit two thin. I never mind waiting a bit though because they're a small local business hustling to take care of their thirsty guests!
While The Rocks has many great house cocktail options, we usually opt for a simple classic like a Tom Collins. They also offer spirit tastings if you're looking to sample some local varieties. If you're hungry, they offer a selection of appetizers, flatbreads and salads with optional add-ons like petite bison loin, local river trout, pheasant or pork belly. My favorite menu items are the "Pho" with Bison Loin or "The Rocks Noodle Salad" with Trout.
Whenever my wife and I vacation in Big Sky, it's become our tradition to head immediately to The Rocks upon arrival. We love it that much! Give it a try and hopefully you will too.
PRO TIP:
If you have dietary restrictions, some dishes can be prepared gluten free and/or vegan. The gluten free flatbread crust was impressive.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brynne K.Roseville, CA0381Feb 15, 2024
I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. We loved it so much the first night for dinner, that we retired the next day for lunch. The flatbreads and Pho soup were ah-mazing. We tried different types and all were fantastic. All their hard liquor is from Montana and get so excited to help you find your jam. I'm not a whiskey girl at all, but they picked me out one that I actually liked. The wine is not local, but it's a good selection. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we just really could not have asked for a better experience. So sad this is not located in our home town.

This is no ordinary bar food! I peers the Pho and added pork belly. The meat was a very large portion and the Pho was clean and flavored well. We also enjoyed the Bison flatbread, they didn't skimp out on the meat. This spot is really cool because they have a liquor store connected to the bar/restaurant with lots of local spirits, beer and wine.

The taco flatbread is so good!! Cocktails are great, too. Kind service. Small, chill cocktail lounge vibes make for a carefree ambiance. I recommend!

What a fun place. The restaurant is located in a quaint shopping area. The drink selection is excellent with service to match. The food is tastes but selection is limited which is to be expected as it's not a five course meal spot to begin with. Bring your group and enjoy the patio

If I could give this place TEN stars, I would!!! On our 4 day visit to the area, we came here twice! It's that great!! Small unassuming place within a shopping center in town. There is indoor and outdoor seating, Overhead doors open to the patio for the perfect atmosphere where the interior is full of patriotic decor.
The full bar contains only Montana made spirits. The specialty drinks were very tasty. Try the huckleberry mule!
The food was amazing! They have a small menu so everything is executed absolutely perfectly with locally sourced ingredients. My party of 4 tasted almost the whole menu. My FAVORITE thing was the duck bacon flatbread! Absolutely delicious. And the soup de jour was pheasant tortilla soup. I'm from Texas and we do chicken tortilla soup...this rivaled ours!!!
The owners are so kind and personable! Our first visit, the owner was serving and she's delightful! And her husband was running the back of the house cooking his heart out. Such a great couple! The service and food was just as good on our second visit when the other employees were handling the place.
If you're in the Big Sky area, do yourself a favor and stop in!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
