Left my puppy here for a little bit over a week and he loves it here. The staff took great care of my little guy. I'll be taking him back for doggie daycare since he loved this place. This facility is run by great a group of individuals. Very professional and caring. Definitely look into boarding, training etc.. your dog here. TOP NOTCH!!!

So happy to have found them. From training, to daycare and boarding - they are excellent! I have full confidence in their care & kindness. They are structured in their approach, with safety as a top priority. Our girl loves it there. Thank you a million times.

What a great facility. The only actual experience we have with Royal K9 is vis the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County.
We were there to pick up our new rescue Sascha (formerly Georgia).
In walking around the grounds it looks as if there are plenty of things for dogs and their owners to do. I watched the agility training class for a bit as well as went into the Resort to tour the area. We live in YL so this will certainly somewhere we will consider boarding our pups if we should need to.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1 - Hilary P.Orange, CA13181Jul 8, 2023
My dog was boarded at Royal K9 Resort this year. My dog had a medical emergency while in their care. Whether they could have prevented it or not is besides the point. The reason for the 1-star rating is that no one from the resort ever contacted me. No one even called to check on him after he left early to see the vet (and didn't return). Use caution if you're thinking of boarding your dog here.

This review is not a customer but a volunteer with a local rescue that was upset we raised prices. Not fair to leave this but we wish you well.

Our Border Collie loves the doggie daycare at the Resort. Sending helps is by providing and escape for energy and provides our dog with lots of stimulating activities with other dogs. Not to me the give me a quiet day. It's a great safe and enriching environment which I highly recommend.

We brought home a shelter dog who had some very challenging life experiences; he became attached to us, but anyone else should beware. He was highly reactive to any human within 20 yds, and worse with dogs even at a distance. We had a consult with RK9 and we brought Pete for the board and train program, it was necessary.
Pete and I have learned to maintain composure in stressful situations and be constructive. Pete now has the confidence to be amongst people and dogs if properly introduced. He loves going to RK9 for additional training sessions and he stays for board and refresh instead of the regular boarding facility. RK9 trainers are part of his pack now, they saved him and me.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - Heather C.Brea, CA072Feb 2, 2022
They take great care of my pup at day care as well as boarding. I always feel comfortable leaving her and knowing that she will be treated well. She gets excited the second we pull up to the building so I know she is happy here.

Welcome to Royal K9, where the only thing royal about them is that they're royal assholes. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would.
TL;DR: Royal K9 didn't follow our instructions, overbilled us, didn't give our dog her blanket, didn't let us see the suites ahead of time, tried to give us the wrong dog, nickel and dimed us, and our Great Pyrenees came back with an infected and fractured dew claw that will need to be amputated now.
Last week, we brought our two dogs (Peanut, an 11 year old Shiba, and Daisy, a 4 year old Great Pyrenees) to Royal K9. Before we took them here, we called ahead to ask some questions, since Peanut is older and mostly just likes to be left alone. We were told the best thing for her would be a suite, which was "like a room and quieter than a run, with more space." We don't mind paying more for the best situation for our dogs - and I think many dog owners feel the same. We asked if we could come to see the suites, and were told we could at any point in time. We drove up there, only to be turned away and told they couldn't show us these accomodations. We understood, but we're less than impressed because of the general attitude about it - like we were a massive inconvenience with an overtone of "I don't want you here."
Two days later, we came to drop our dogs off, and we had to do it one at a time. We were greeted by the world's most snippy and rude receptionist, who answered our questions with one word responses. On the desk was a sheet of "add ons" for the stay, and we were told to pick what we wanted. We asked for ONE frozen Kong for Daisy a day, and TWO for Peanut each day, one in the morning and one at night. I asked for Daycare for Daisy, since she loves to socialize, and they had me lead Daisy back to the largest suite. Daisy is a Great Pyrenees, who weighs about 85 lbs - and the suite wasn't very large, and the "bed" wasn't big enough for her. Very disappointing, and that was their highest level of accommodation.
Next up was Peanut. Peanut had the next level of accommodation, since she is much smaller. Her accommodation was effectively a very narrow hallway type room, with a bed at the very back - about half the size of what Country Cares runs used to be. We gave them her blanket. Once Peanut was checked in, we were asked where the dogs' food was - which caught us by surprise. Nowhere in our conversations with them had they mentioned that we'd need to bring their food, and they were very rude about this. They charged us for food, which is absolutely fine, but we were already paying $110/night for both dogs before add-ons - and then we were being charged $2/cup of food on top of that.
Peanut came out first, and we told them explicitly she needed her harness on since Peanut is an escape artist. They didn't listen and my mom, who has an injured knee, had to scoop up a squirming Shiba and march her to the car.Peanut came back to us shaken and scared, actively seeking us out and often trembling. We had a dog who was happy to just do her own thing and be left alone, and all of a sudden this dog is shy and seeking affirmation, trembling, and acting entirely differently than we had ever seen her.
As mentioned, Daisy is a great Pyrenees, and She is all white and looks like a cloud. I could already tell from Peanut that they wouldn't do the harness, so I asked if I could go back and put the harness on her, since Daisy does pull on the leash and when she sees her harness, she gets excited. They refused me and said they could do it, or we could do it in the lobby, which is not a secure place to harness a dog who is big enough to push their door open if she had a mind to do so. Then, They brought out the wrong dog. They brought out a black, male, German shepherd named Max. Sweet dog, but they tried to give me the wrong one.
Another 5 to 10 minutes roll by, and they bring out the right dog, harness and all. We asked for Peanuts blanket back, which was handed to my mom after a very long wait (and Peanuts suite was up near the front of the building, so it shouldn't have taken more than 2 minutes to get it - we waited about 10, which is how we knew it wasn't in Peanuts suite). Daisy was very eager to get away from this place, and ran to the car. Daisy, who is a sweet dog who loves to be around people, was standoffish and aloof for the first few days she was at home. I made a vet appointment and got her checked out - and come to find out, her back dew claws (she has double, as do most great Pyrenees) had been broken off and were infected. The vet said it looked like recent trauma - and we noticed it after Daisy came back. Now we have a massive vet bill to take care of this and get her back dew claws amputated because of how severe the fracture of her dews were.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie M.Yorba Linda, CA013Sep 29, 2021First to Review
Very disappointed First time boarding my dog so I was nervous but I felt like I had made a good choice.
She stayed 2 nights and when I picked her up she had pooped in her crate... don't know why they would of
Closed her in it or they didn't take her out potty. What a mess!
Then after 2 days home she fell ill, took her to her vet and she had caught kennel cough....she has had all her vaccines.
2 weeks later she is still recovering. To say the least I'm very sad and don't know why this happened.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - John B.Yorba Linda, CA22413Aug 1, 2022
Dog spent 2 weeks here and came home covered in fleas. Our dog has never had fleas and we have never seen a flea in our house once since we've had him. If you want your dog exposed to an army of fleas visit this place.
