Stopped by for the Lorain Count Best Burger Battle. Since I can only vote for one place my review might be a little more nitpicky than usual as I compare and decide a winner.
We arrived around 4:30pm since they don't open until 4pm. When we walked in we weren't sure what to do as no one was there to greet us and the people we did see turned their backs to us to keep discussing what the daily specials were. We went over to the bar area and sat ourselves. I would describe The Unicorn as being a dimly lit Irish upscale bar/restaurant. When they went around lighting up the little candles on the tables that helped with the ambiance and being able to see. Our server turned out to be friendly and was helpful when it came to menu suggestions. A manager also came around a couple times during our meal to make sure everything was okay.
The burger was the Uni Cristco Burger $9 with Canadian bacon, gruyere cheese, on french toast with lemon maple dipping sauce and raspberry coulis. To me this was the most unique burger on the list, they got creative and made a fancy breakfast burger. Visually appealing and tasted good, however I thought the Canadian bacon was more like dry ham and the french toast bun was too soft thus it smooshed/fell apart easily (need to use old bread and cook until firmer). Messy especially with dipping it into the raspberry or maple syrup, but I liked the sweet and hearty combination. Good burger patty too, nothing dry there. I would place this in the middle of my rankings.
We also split a bowl of their Lobster Bisque $7.95 which they only make on the weekend. This was very tasty, and we soaked up the richness with a fresh mini loaf of bread. Then there was the Beet Salad $9 which was more than plenty to share and very good as well. Seems like they make some quality food here and the place started to really fill up so I'm sure others appreciate this place as well.
I did have a question about being able to serve those who are wheelchair bound, I had to step up to get into the building and had to step up to get into the restroom. Not sure how a person in a wheelchair is able to maneuver around without a ramp?
Overall worth a visit.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - David R.Dayton, OH0225196Jan 8, 2019
Just outside Cleveland this restaurant and bar are a well kept secret! Opening the door is like entering a small part of Ireland, the low ceiling in the bar, the dark and rustic interior really could be somewhere in rural Ireland.
The Guinness was smooth and soothing to drink as we ate a delicious Shepard's pie and a chicken Cordon Bleu.
Well priced, good service, bar and restaurant area with tables and booths, plenty of parking.
Happy we went there, give it a try if you are considering it, you will not be disappointed!
Read some of the other reviews of this place and did not smell any mold or milder or for that matter any air freshener that might be hiding something. Everywhere was clean and the dark interior is typical of many Irish pubs.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Krissy E.North Olmsted, OH715037Mar 8, 2020
I didn't stay long, however, I did stay long enough to witness the wonderful and friendly staff. The hostess and waitress were very nice. My family however did stay to enjoy the food. They all said it was wonderful. Wings were good. Burgers were good. Steak was good. Appetizers were good. Everything was good!

The Unicorn Restaurant in Grafton, Ohio serves really great food that you wouldn't expect to find in a small town. Daily specials are always good. They serve, steaks, prime rib and a wonderful salmon among other delicious dishes. They have a fabulous French Onion soup too. Ending the meal with a Unicorn Adult coffee is perfect!

The Unicorn has been a Grafton staple for years. Service is always good, and the food plentiful.
On this occasion I got the Fish and Chips. Decent but I think the fish could use a bit more seasoning and it seemed a little underdone. The fries were okay. A bit over cooked and I may have gotten the last of a batch.
My dinner companions enjoyed their meals quite a bit. Next time I'm there I'll opt for something else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elizabeth F.Grafton, OH0142Jul 7, 2019

First time here and was completely satisfied. Service and food was great. Don't let the decor' and name discourage you. It is worth going in!

Epic road trip stop 2. The pooch and I were in need of sustenance. This place looked perfect. A neighborhood Irish pub in rural Lorain county. This place is authentic Irish, not faux Irish like Flannery's or the Harp. The bar felt like a medieval inn from a movie like Willow or Monty Python's Holy Grail. Yet it still had this Lorain county-veterans drink here-stop taking pictures with your phone you city slicker vibe to it. Very dark inside, even at 11:30 in the morning. I ordered the perch sandwich to go with Uni-fries(waffle fries) and pounded a GLBC Conway Irish ale while i waited. They offer a Uni burger(which i assumed was my most coveted lifelong delicacy, unicorn meat), but I still went with fish. Order was up quick as hell before i could even finish my brew! Great service. Total was ten bones.
Sandwich was small, but tasty. It had some sort of house tartar sauce that was delectable. They gave me a pickle, ample fries, and a reason to talk about unicorns for a week. So glad i stopped in.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Heidi S.Valley City, OH61213Nov 28, 2015
Thank goodness for Siri, because there was no sign denoting the Unicorn, except a packed parking lot. What was recommended to us as a steakhouse happened to have an Irish flair, just perfect for the Sweeney's and McGivern's in attendance.
Ryan enjoyed a huge cut of prime rib, and I had the bourbon salmon. The prime rib was cooked as requested and fresh and flavorful. The salmon was well prepared and the whipped Yukons were perfect. Try the Colcannon: whipped potatoes with cabbage and kale. Irish eyes were smiling!
We all shared a wonderful meat and cheese platter, and unlike many we have had, it was packed with many different meats and cheeses - plenty for 4 to share.
The service was good and the old world, dated interior lent itself to the fun of a hidden gem.
One area for improvement: the Guiness was a little too cold.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
