Delicious comfort food. Seems like I need to go to the Midwest for it. If you're tired of Thai, Soy surprise, food wrapped in lettuce and gluten free at your friends house, come to Wee Willies. Great sausage and gravy with lovely biscuits. BBQ beef. BLTs. French toast. Real mashed potatoes and what goes on them.
Friendly waitresses. Best tart lemon meringue pie I ever had.
Cash only. And it won't cost you a lot of it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Erica R.East St. Louis, IL678434Mar 1, 2015
We love this place for its reality--the food you order is EXACTLY what you imagine, it great portions and a view of the strip club next door ("It's a business doing pleasure!")
Today's meal was no less excellent, but we had the addition of an authentically terse and disgruntled waitress who certainly made it clear that she would tolerate no shenanigans or hooliganism from our table (2 married couples, all middle aged and dressed in our gang colors--Gryffindor, Slytherin and Doctor Who). Of course, once put in our places, we reverted to our best Mother May I Manners, and we were granted our meals (which we ordered mere moments after getting our menus because The Glare said dawdling was the devil's work).
Come for the food, leave quickly for the hospitality. Refills are free.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Billy M.Schaumburg, IL562815Mar 23, 2013
This place defines the Midwest of America. It is an essential fixture in the landscape of an always changing country. Without it, we would not be the same.
Inside the unmarked building, you will find hanging wooden chandeliers, perfect French toast, and a waitress named Jennifer. If Jennifer ever stops working or is fired, Willie's will instantly collapse. Its soul will evaporate from the void remaining from her absence. Willie's would not be the essential American experience and fixture without her service. Express your gratitude to her with words that old friends might exchange and a 50% tip.
If you cannot enjoy Willie's, you cannot enjoy the blessings of life.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Ally L.Pittsburgh, PA1011116Apr 13, 2009
One of the best places to grab breakfast, far superior to the Village Deli. Avoid the one in Bloomington at all costs, the employees are rude to anyone who appears to be a college student.
I suggest the branch in Ellettsville for breakfast. The food is typical reasonably priced breakfast fare. They have fresh OJ which is a nice touch. Plus you get to eavesdrop on hilarious conversations between divorced fathers and the kids they have custody of for the weekend : "If you kids don't shut up and sit down we're going to church instead of Menards"Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sarah W.Wauwatosa, WI642273Sep 27, 2009
I really drank more than I should have last night. But, thanks to Wee Willie's (and napping) I feel a bit better.
My boyfriend and I spent a total of $10 (including tax and tip) on a tasty and filling breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, coffee served with a smile.
Time once again for.....
Greasy diner spectrum:
Gross---Edible---Filling---Satisfying---Good n greasy---Delicious

This is a great place for breakfast. It reminds me of an old southern family owned restaurant that you go to on the weekends with your friends. No Frills! Seems like only locals know about this place, and that's fine with them. The building doesn't even have a sign outside, so if you haven't been taken there you probably wont find it. All the wait staff are really nice and friendly. The biscuits are huge and so tasty that they often run out of that day's batch. This is a nice place for cheap meal and to feel satisfied & cared for.
Cash only, so plan ahead!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Margaret L.San Francisco, CA10419177Jan 15, 2014
It is not a good start of the day. I came here with my days of dream for there breakfast , expected, delightfully.
But , actually there is only one thing that piss me off during this visit.
I guess our server got flight with her children this morning before she came to work. She was in a good attitude during her working time. It seems like she is annoying by is asking for meal here. The serving mama doesn't allow us to roll up the curtain. It's 12:30 around noon and the sun is very good outside. And it does not really blind people' eyes. And I asked and got the permit from our neighbor if they mind to roll up the curtain.
Why she seems pissed today? but we just came in and the only thing we might did to bother her is we asked for the lunch menu after she brought us the breakfast one.
Okay. I guess she turned normal after a few omissions of our request for paper towel, coffee and ... ? I can't remember. I guess she is not in condition today.
But anyway, there pancake is reaaaaaally good! That's my four stars for.

Something special about this place. It oozes retro diner charm with it's wood paneling, 70's lighting, a sweet elderly waitress, and oddly random photos on the menus. It all added up to a vibe straight out of the "Double R Diner" from Twin Peaks. That's really hard to find these days.
Classic and comfortable, which also sums up the food. The omelette I had was large and tasty, nothing out of the ordinary, simply classic diner food done well.
I'd return every time when passing through town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kyle M.Dallas, TX952224Mar 15, 2015
Ok, don't go getting all hyped up for some amazing breakfast delicatessen. This place is down right, to the point, breakfast done simple and perfect. You want pancakes? Done. You want some biscuits and gravy? Done. You want an omelette? Done. I mean, I couldn't have asked for better service, hotter coffee or fulfilling breakfast.
The toast came buttered just like my Granny did it. The gravy was on point with sausage already in it. Please don't get mad when they tell you CASH ONLY, read the signs. Wee Willie's will see me again for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynn J.Bloomington, IN58316Jan 16, 2014
Fragments of other reviews are totally right for Wee Willies.
"Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a basic diner for breakfast."
"This place defines the Midwest of America."
"This is our go-to place for Sunday morning breakfast. It's fast, basic, no frills food."
Yes, it is plain and basic: eggs and bacon not Eggs Benedict, pancakes not crepes. But that does not mean the food is not delicious. If this is your itch, it is a really good scratch. If you can take it for what it is, rather than disliking it for what it's not, you will enjoy your meal and just might be back. I hate some things in basic diners, but I would not trade the experience for fancy jams and Seville orange marmalade on my toast somewhere else. Not even for pure maple syrup. Keep your horizons and attitudes open and enjoy the full scene when you come here. Relax; if the service is slow today, go with the flow. If the waitress has had a hard morning and you are on her last nerve, step off. And enjoy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
