My very first time at the Saint Charles World Outdoor Emporium! So. Yes. I'm one of the many who've fallen for Rock Painting! I simply love it. The subject matter possibilities are endless! I've yearned for the smooth, flat gorgeous rocks that nature has so lovingly sculpted into perfect receptacles of my creative ingenuity. I've ordered online, searched local hardware stores etc. Less than great as you must sort through to find some that are preferable but many rocks that are best described as make-do in a 20 - 30 pound bag of stones. That's a lot of "meh" when you're decidedly desiring aesthetically superb... right?
Anyway, back to the day I visited WOE. Mind you, it's January. In St. Louis. And we are currently experiencing a cold snap like no other! But follow ur bliss, right? I found the Saint Charles, MO WOE easily and parked just as easily. I enjoy such places and WOE didn't disappoint! There is a plethora of statuary, outdoors garden decor embellishments, acres of bricks, stone, hedgers, metric yards of variable fill! And so much more! A landscaper's paradise!
l saw an employee and in my request uttered the words "rock painting." He smiled and walked me to an outdoor bin. I'd brought my own bag so all that was left to do now was to hand-select (!!!) every single rock I wanted! I was a kid in a candy store! He grinned at my enthusiasm and checked back with me after a few minutes, even offering to help after he saw basically what I was selecting. We then weighed my beauties, adding a few more to come to a rounded weigh. He was so helpful and easygoing! We went inside to make the purchase. He carried the 20 lb bag all the way. He carried them to the car for me and, it was during our conversation he shared they had the next size up riverstone in another bin on the other side for about 20 cents less per lb!! OMG I had another bag ready so off we went! These beauties were a bit larger to sizeably more so. I selected another 15 - 20 pounds of rocks. Back to the friendliest cashier I've met in a long while to ring me up again. It felt like this business was family owned. I do not know if that's the case, but the ambiance was one of unity, cheer, concern and helpfulness! They facilitated my "mini adventure" with grace and good cheer that day in the tundra chill! I am so grateful for their help. Thank you to everyone who assisted me!
Btw, my entire purchase for the day? Under $17. WOE, you ROCK! (Pun intended... I couldn't help myself) I will be back!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kim D.Lake Saint Louis, MO01Jun 16, 2020
