Being a tropical paradise, Phuket can get really hot. In its hottest season, Phuket temperature can rise to thirty-six degrees. So what do you do to beat the heat? You eat ice cream! LOL. In Phuket old town, one of the popular ice cream shops is Thaivetro Oldtown.

It’s hard to miss Thaivetro because it’s located in a shophouse that’s renovated and painted red.

Thaivetro is a local ice cream shop that offers more than 80 flavors, ranging from classic ones such as Chocolate and Madagascar Vanilla, to Thai flavors such as Thai Tea, Phuket Pineapple, and even Tom Yum Kung (sour soup with shrimp). They even make ice cream with beer, vodka, and a local energy drink.

Interestingly, Thaivetro started as an exporter of glass jewelry worldwide. It gained market insight through the exhibitions, and discovered ice cream as a top-selling product. Now, it has branches throughout Thailand.

My wife got Hokkaido Unicorn and a chocolate one, while I tried local flavors Thai Tea and Phuket Pineapple. They’re all refreshing in the Phuket heat!

To wash down the ice cream, I tried Singha Soda Water. It’s not for me. LOL.
